Inaugural Blockchain Conference to Be Held in Toronto, Toronto is hosting the inaugural Blockchain Revolution Global (BRG), a conference focused on the transformation brought about by blockchain technology.
Billed as the first truly global enterprise leadership community for blockchain, the conference features guest speakers on the main stage and speaker-led leadership track sessions.
The event will highlight the findings of dozens of research projects from the Blockchain Research Institute, which is co-hosting the conference along with MCI Group, the world’s largest event management company.
The Blockchain Research Institute is a global independent blockchain think-tank, co-founded by authors and technology experts Alex and Don Tapscott.
“Our goal is to inform, inspire, prepare and connect leaders and enterprises in embracing the transformation that blockchain technology will bring the world,” says Don Tapscott, adding that blockchain isn’t just another technology, it’s the foundation for the second era of the internet, where anything of value can be stored, managed, transacted and moved in a private, secure way.
Topics up for discussion at the 2-day BRG conference include Driving Blockchain Adoption in Financial Services, Building Blocks of Future Health, Ethical Energy & Resources, and Smart Cities of Tomorrow.
Mainstage guest speakers feature Ontario Finance Minister Vic Fedeli, Blockchain Research Institute co-founder Don Tapscott and Cameron Chell, the chairman and co-founder of KODAKOne, a blockchain-based image rights service for professional photographers.
Other mainstage guest speakers include Bridget van Kralingen, a senior vice-president at IBM, Richard Smith, the president and CEO of FedEx Logistics, Carlos Moreira, the CEO of WISekey and Imogen Heap, a musician and the founder of Mycelia.
Day two of the conference is aimed at managing the blockchain transformation and introducing blockchain to the world.
The leadership track of the conference features a session on blockchain regulation and a workshop on creating a network of interconnected blockchain centers of excellence.
The conference also features the Enterprise Blockchain Awards, a gala held on the first night of the conference at the Steam Whistle Locomotive Hall.
The awards recognize blockchain leadership as well as companies that are using blockchain to transform their industries, based on a commitment to drive innovation.
Blockchain Revolution Global hopes to educate, inspire and prepare today’s corporate, health and technology leaders to be part of the revolutionary transformation that blockchain technology is bringing to business, government, and society.
If nothing else, the conference will provide some much-needed independent information on blockchain and how it works, as it is a little-understood technology for most mainstream audiences.
